Courses and Workshops

If you're thinking about keeping chickens or are a newcomer to the hobby try one of our beginners courses

The course will last for approximately two hours and will cover the following points:

Where to keep your chickens

What do I need and how much will it cost housing, accessories

What to feed your hens

A good husbandry routine - what to do daily, weekly, monthly and infrequently

Handling chickens, wing clipping and putting on mite powder

Taking the chickens home and settling them in

Health checking, tips & First Aid

Introducing new chickens to the flock

Other Common Questions

There will be plenty of opportunity to see lots of different chickens, across several different breeds and for everyone to handle the chickens. The course will be mostly hands on. Full information about what to bring on the day will be given to all attendees in advance.

The course will cost 25 per adult and 10 per child.

There will be complimentary hot/cold drinks and home-made cakes provided.
